BACE event on (Epi)Genomics of Fertility – May 2021

Our latest event on May 25th was an exciting journey into genomics and epigenomics of fertility. Besides insights into science and technology, our speakers shared their experience of starting their companies from scratch in this exciting field with such important social impact.

Kristing Brogaard, COO of Inherent Biosciences, told us about the impact of male infertility on society and on affected couples in particular. She showed us how her product fills an important gap out there, potentially bringing hope back to many couples struggling with ineffective and expensive infertility treatments. Kristin also generously shared her entrepreneurial experience.

Update: watch Kristin’s talk here:

Brad Gulko, Founder of Progenic Genomics and a long-term BACE member, made us realize that the matters of fertility and especially embryo diagnostics are difficult, and entangled in complex ethical debates. He shared with us his personal journey that sparked his passion and led him onto the entrepreneurial path, as well as his recent journey towards the seed funding of his company.
