BACE Event on Epigenomics in Autism – March 2022

In anticipation of the National Autism Awareness month in April 2022, this BACE event featured two epigeneticists, sharing their research discoveries on the epigenetic mechanisms in autism and neurodevelopment.

Hosted by Sofia Kyriazopoulou-Panagiotopoulou, PhD, the BACE audience reassembled this year in the event exploring epigenetic mechanisms playing role in autism and neurodevelopment.

The event opened with the talk by Yihui Zhu, PhD, currently an Applied Bioinformatics Scientist, 10x Genomics, who presented her doctoral research done at UC Davis in the talk entitled “Placenta may hold clues for early autism diagnosis and intervention”.

Next we heard about exciting research from Kari Neier, PhD, Postdoctoral Scholar at UC Davis, who told us about “The role of the epigenome in influencing the risk of neurodevelopment disorders from developmental PCB exposures”.
