December saw our last event of year 2020 – we closed the year in a familiar atmosphere, and as usually welcomed new faces to our community as well.

I gave a brief overview of what BACE did in 2020 and what may lay ahead in 2021. For the coming few months we will maintain our typical format and meet for larger events with an invited speaker or two, as well as meet in a smaller setting for Chromatin Coffees. Since BACErs enjoyed having a Guest during Chromatin Coffee in October, we will also continue to invite interesting people working in epigenomics to join us for a chat.
We will also continue to meet virtually in 2021, and possibly beyond, so feel free to join us wherever you are by joining us on Meetup: https://www.meetup.com/Bay-Area-Chromatin-and-Epigenomics-Meetup-Group/.
The event continued with discussions around the research on ageing, intertwined with quite an in depth debate on advantages and disadvantages of R vs. python vs. Julia for bioinformatics. One of our members advocated for Julia as the most powerful of the three. Feel free to share your thoughts in comments below!
